This is a Walkthrough for The Earth Temple in Skyward Sword. If you need help before the Earth Temple, check out the Eldin Volcano Walkthrough.

This dungeon is relatively simple, but has a few difficult monsters to fight.

Enter the temple and take the left fork when you come to one, and then go talk to the Mogma after killing the fire-bats. He will tell you he is worried about his friend.

Now go back to the fork and turn left, and jump across the platforms on the lava jets.

Cut the rope with the beetle to lower the bridge

Now cut the ropes connected to gears on either side of the platform, to lower the bridge, and then use your Beetle to cut the final rope near the bridge itself.

This will lower the bridge, and you can proceed into the next room.

Watch out, because now you’ve got to fight a lizard with a sword and shield!

These guys are pretty tough, so make sure you pay attention to what direction they are blocking in.

Fire your beetle at a bomb flower on the sunken statue in the lava

After beating the lizard guy, fire your beetle at one of the bombs on the statue in the lava.

This will blow up the statue and drop a giant ball in front of you, floating in the lava.

Use this giant stone ball to float around on the lava and run in any direction to make the ball move that way.

Your first stop on the floating ball will be to the right side of the room, where there is a Mogma who lost his bomb bag.

Crawl under the crawlspace to the left of the Mogma, kill the goblin, and then bowl a bomb back under the crawlspace to blow up that rock wall.

Bowl a bomb under the crawlspace to blow up the wall

Now you can open the door, at which point you will fight two more lizard guys.

These guys are pretty tough, so remember to press down arrow while Z-targeting to listen to what Fi (your sword) has to say about them.

After killing them, you will get the bomb bag! Go outside and the Mogma will help you out by giving you 5 bombs too.

Push the button with your floating stone ball

Now hop back on your floating stone ball, and take it all the way to the opposite side of the room, and turn right through the broken bridge.

Your goal is to push the stone ball into the switches with the targets on them.

The first switch is easy, but the second switch will take a while to get to.

After pushing in the first button, go back around and go to the opposite side of the room (near the path blocked by two large statues/columns).

Throw the bomb at the cracked wall marked by a red X on your map (if you got the map)

There is a cracked part of the wall that you should be able to see. If you can’t find it, grab the map from the room blocked off by that giant boulder on the broken bridge, and there will be a large red “x” directly on the crack.

Throw a couple bombs at this crack in the wall to find a hidden lava hallway. Keep rolling on your ball down the hallway, watching out for lava waterfalls.

Throw your bombs at the other crack to open a new corridor

Keep going until you get to a dead-end, and then turn around, and you will see another cracked wall to the right, so throw another couple bombs that way.

Continue down the lava river on your giant stone ball (sounds totally safe, doesn’t it?) and you will eventually come to a dead end with a giant gate blocking your way.

Cut the 2nd rope by sending your beetle through this hallway

Using your beetle, you must cut two ropes. The first rope is on the front of the gate, which is easy.

The second rope is on the other side of the gate, so you have to send your beetle through the hallway on the left and turn to the right and then cut the rope that way.

After cutting both ropes, the gate will open, and you can proceed forward.

Keep going forward on the rolling ball, and you will come to a difficult narrow passage, so don’t fall off the edge! Keep going and eventually you will reach the other button, which you can now press, and it will raise the rest of the bridge.

Go up to the new area, open the door, and face the first ramp hazard.

Go in the crawlspace and up the stairs to get past the 2nd ramp

To get past this one, simply dodge the first set of rocks, and then go into the left alcove before you run out of stamina. Now, finish running up after you recharge.

You will get to another ramp hazard, at which point you need to go into the small crawlspace and run up the stairs.

Throw the bomb from the platform to open the alcove

After you run up the stairs, throw a bomb to the right side of the far wall, and it should roll down and blow up the rocks blocking the alcove.

Now that the alcove is clear, run up the ramp the same way you did the first ramp, by resting at the open alcove.

Wuh oh

At the top of the ramp, you will be in a new area with a dragon spewing lava from its mouth.

Run to the left, up the long ramp until you finally get a chest with the key to the boss door.

Watch out though, because that rock sure looks dangerous.

After running away from the rolling rock, you will be able to use the key on the door. Align the key with the Wii Remote to enter the boss room.

You will see a short cut-scene with the guy you fought at Skyview Temple, and then you will face a giant fire-spider guy, Scaldera.

To defeat Scaldera:

Beating Scaldera is pretty easy if you know what to do. It involves hitting him with bombs when he isn’t invincible (when he is all electric, you can’t hurt him). Then, after he is hit with a bomb, he will roll to the bottom of the ramp, and you will need to throw a bomb into his mouth while he is breathing in.

Eat that bomb, Scaldera!

After it blows up in his mouth, you can hit his eyeball over and over with your sword. It should take 5-7 bomb / sword combos before he is finally defeated.

About halfway through, he will start running over you, so watch out for his legs. Stay close to the bottom though, and just dodge him as he rolls down, and then throw a bomb at him when he starts breathing in again.

You should have him beat lickety split!

Once you have him beat, you will get a heart container, at which point you can go to the next room.

You will see a cut scene here, and then you will get your final piece of the map tablet, the Amber tablet. Congratulations on beating this dungeon!
