Places visited in this Walkthrough: Sealed Grounds, Faron Woods, Deep Woods
You land on the surface, in the Sealed Grounds, which is an area you will be visiting in the future also.
Once you land, proceed on the path, fighting a few Deku Babas along the way. To defeat them, you must swing your sword so that it slashes inside the monster’s mouth.
You will arrive at a locked door, and you will see a dream cut-scene with a giant monster. After the cut-scene, jump down to the center of the Sealed Grounds. There, you will see a shadowy pillar in the middle of the area.
Using your sword, raise it skyward to charge it up, and then slash the shadowy pillar. This will change the area by adding steam jets, and it will also unlock the door above. So take the steam jets up a few times to get back to the door.
Also, your sword Fi will teach you about dowsing, which is very useful in this game. To dowse, press C and look around with your sword in an area that has dowsing targets. The closer you look towards a target, the more the reticle will start blinking and making noise.
Open the door and proceed inside. You will meet an old man in here who will explain some things to you, as well as teach you how to use a beacon on your map. Simply press the C button on your map to set a beacon.
Before leaving, be sure to grab the potion from the chest down and to the right of the old man (near the corner of the room). Leave the room by using the door on the right, and you will be on the path to Faron Woods. You will see your beacon ahead of you. Continue forward and you will come across a Goron being accosted by several red goblins.
Using your sword skills, fight these goblins. Be careful, because they can easily block your sword with their own, so you have to hit them where there sword isn’t blocking. After defeating them, talk to the Goron who explains he was researching these strange Bird Statues. These statues actually let you save, and go back to the Sky also. After you activate them by walking close, you can save your game.
Continue up the path until you come to a log near a ledge. Grab the log with A and push it towards the ledge. This will allow you to dash up the log and then the ledge.
Continue along the path until you enter:
Faron Woods
The Faron Woods are the home to the Kikwi race, which are cute little creatures. It is also home to the Skyview Temple, which we will visit later.
You arrive in the woods and you get a view of the whole place. Continue up the path, jumping across with a vine, and slicing down trees in your path, until you come to two goblins harassing another creature. Slay the goblins, and this creature, a Kikwi, will run away up the sloped ramp after you talk to him.
Dash up the ramp to follow the Kikwi. After a little bit, you get to a new area and the Kikwi will hide behind a mushroom. Use your dowsing (press C) to find the creature if you are having trouble.
To scare him out of his hiding places, just roll into the mushroom (dash and shake nunchuk) or slice the mushroom with your sword. After finding the creature a couple times, you will be able to talk to him again. He tells you to go visit the Kikwi Elder.
To find the Kikwi Elder, follow the brown path on the road up another inclined ramp (it has a Deku Baba on it) and continue following this brown dirt path until you come across some trees blocking your way. Slice these trees up and continue, curving around to the left.
You will have to face another Deku Baba, and then you will see a vine tied up into a bush. Slice the vine out of the bush, and swing across to meet the Kikwi Elder.
After you meet him, you discover that you need to find three more Kikwis to make sure they are safe. The first Kikwi we will look for is Lopsa the Kikwi. From the Kikwi Elder, crawl under the tree near the Kikwi Elder and then cross a rope bridge.
You will probably fall off the rope bridge the first time because of these little plant mines, but try again if you do. When you finally cross, you go down to the next area and fight two goblins to save the Kikwi. After killing the goblins, roll into the tree. This will make the Kikwi fall down, and talk to him to cross him off your list.
Climb the vine with A and swing up to the ledge. Push the log off and then proceed to jump down. Now, use your dowsing to search for the next two Kikwis. Eventually in your searches you will come to an area that looks like the picture, and you need to climb up the log to find the next target, Oolo the Kikwi.
Once you climb up the log, turn left and climb up some more, until you are near a red brick fence.
Near that fenced off area is a hole that you need to fall into, pictured also. After falling into the hole, run through a tunnel and then to a clearing with a tree and some bushes.
One of the bushes is Oolo, so try to pick him up. He will talk to you and you can mark him off your list, so let’s go find the final Kikwi, Erla.
To find this Kikwi, go back around and climb up the red circled area again. This leads to a path which you can take to the left, and find a crawl-tunnel.
Crawl through it to a new area, and defeat the goblins if you want. After defeating the goblins, look for some vines on your left. Use your dowsing too, to help you find Erla.
Climb these vines and then slash away all the grass around Erla and eventually she will give up. Finally you can go and visit the Kikwi Elder again. The Kikwi Elder will finally remember stuff, and he will give you the Slingshot. This weapon will allow you to enter the Skyview Temple!
Before you leave, you may want to grab a heart piece! It is located in the woods, and it can be seen in the screenshot in the “Heart Piece” box.
After grabbing the optional heart piece, proceed to the Temple in the Faron Woods. You can see it on your map. From the Kikwi Elder, shoot the vine and then swing across, and keep going towards the right, through the water, and you will be at the temple.
Continue up through the stairs near the temple and you will come to a dead end, with a curled up vine above you. Shoot the vine and swing up to the ledge.
You get your first glimpse of a mysterious enemy as you enter the Deep Woods.
Deep Woods
Continue along the path until you come across a beehive hanging over a rope bridge. To get across, your best bet is to shoot the beehive before you start crossing. One hit from your slingshot should send it plummeting down.
After crossing the rope bridge, continue on the path until you come to a huge gap. From here, turn right and jump up the ledge. This will give you access to another rope bridge.
This time, a goblin will try to cross when you do. The best idea here is to let him start crossing, and then go backwards, back onto safe ground, and then shoot him with your slingshot to make him fall.
You also might want to shoot the little plant-mines on the rope!
Continue along this way, swinging across another vine, and then you’ll come to that Goron guy again.
He’ll teach you about Goddess Cubes, and you can quickly send one skyward by charging your sword (holding it skyward) and then hitting the cube.
After that, continue on to the next building, which is the Skyview Temple.
To Enter the Skyview Temple, shoot the switch above the door with your slingshot.
