After defeating the Earth Temple, it’s time to go back to the Goddess Statue and deposit the last piece of map, the Amber piece. Drop it in the Goddess Temple and a new beam of light will show up.
Be sure to buy anything you need in town before you go, and then fly over to the Amber beam of light. This will drop you off at the Lanayru Mine.
Lanayru Mine
Push the mine cart to the other side of the pit
Proceed forward and push a mine cart straight ahead until it falls off the ledge, and then pull/push it to the other side of the pit.
Use this as a booster to get out of the pit on the other side. Going forward, you will eventually find another mine cart. Move this one to the other side of its short track.
Go to the next area and hit the large blue stone in the center. This will put that area back in time, before the place was a desert.
Throw the bombs in the statue bowls
Now, jump in the mine cart you just moved, and take it to the next room. Blow up a big pile of rocks on the left side of the room to find another time-stone, and activate it.
Using your bombs, throw one inside the bowl of the statue blocking the way forward. The statue will fall down. In the next corridor, repeat this to drop the next few statues.
In the next large room, you will see sinksand with some monsters in it. Throw bombs to kill the monsters, and then dash from island to island across the large room.
Roll a bomb and reveal a time-stone on the far side
When you get to the other side, move this next mine cart to the other side of its short track.
Go in the next room and destroy all the rocks, and then roll a couple bombs over the sinksand to blow up a pile of rocks on the far side and reveal a new time-stone, which you can activate with a bomb or your beetle.
After activating it, you can optionally proceed down the same hallway to find a chest with a treasure, or you can just jump in the mine cart in the previous room and proceed forward.
Lanayru Desert
Throw the bomb in the cage
In the desert, feel free to explore around and look for treasures, and then proceed to the area that looks like the picture on the left.
Dash onto a ledge near the cages, and then jump onto the closest cage, and throw a couple bombs into the cage with a large hole on top.
This will reveal a time stone, which you can activate with another bomb.
Fight the goblins here, and then talk to the tiny robot man that you saved. He will upgrade your beetle to allow it to grab objects!
Use the beetle to drop bombs into the bowls of the statues
Go over to the area near there with sinksand and 4 of those bowl-statues.
Using the beetle, grab a bomb from the top of the tree, and use the Z button + A button to drop the bomb into the bowls.
Now proceed forward and to the left. Use the beetle to grab another bomb and drop it on the large crabs.
Use the crab shells as a resting place on the sand
You can use the crab shell as a resting place. If you didn’t kill the crab in the right place, just wait a few moments and a new crab will appear.
After crossing a couple sinksand areas, you will come to the West Desert Save Point. Save your game, and then prepare for more crab sand fun.
This time when you kill the crabs, the shell will continue moving with the flow of the sand. So kill a crab, jump on the shell, and ride it further down closer to the end. With a few tries you should be able to get it. Don’t worry about the sinksand, it doesn’t hurt you, it just warps you back to try again.
Continue on the path and go through a cave to enter the Temple of Time area.
Temple of Time
Save at the Desert Gorge save point, and then use your beetle to hit a time-stone on top of a rock column to the right.
Drop a bomb in the top of the tree stump ahead of you
Kill the goblin that appears and then jump in the mine cart, and cross the bridge.
For the next time-stone, you have to drop a bomb in the top of the tree stump, so use your beetle and grab a bomb from the top of the nearby cactus.
After dropping the bomb in, use your beetle again twice to first activate the pink switch on the left side of the inside of the tree, and to also kill the hanging deku baba that is blocking your path.
This time stone was hidden behind rocks
On the other side of the mine cart track, you will need to blow up the rocks on top of the rock column to reveal another time stone.
Activate this one, kill the goblins, and then talk to the robot guy blocking the mine cart path. He will move after he updates your map, so jump in the mine cart to move it a little ways.
Now use your beetle to activate the time stone hidden in an alcove right ahead of you (along the mine cart path).
Now get in the mine cart again to cross the bridges to the next area, activating the Goddess Cube along the way if you can.
Place beacons in the Lanayru Desert
Proceed through the cave ahead to go back to the other part of the desert.
You will discover that there is a path underneath the sand, where you won’t sink. So make some beacons just like the ones in the picture and go towards the red X on the map.
Blow up some rocks to reveal a time-stone. Activate it and talk to the robot guy, who will tell you about the lock. Using dowsing, you can now find the three switches and activate them.
First Switch
The first one we’ll go to is southwest of the switch, behind a bowl-statue in the wall. Use your dowsing to pinpoint exactly where it is. Before you can activate the switch, you have to find the time-stone behind a crack in the wall, just to the left of the statue.
Activate that time-stone, and then thrust your sword into the switch, rotate it, and press A to push your sword in and activate it.
Second Switch
You’ve got the first switch turned on, so now go back to the red X on your map, and then head northwest from there, to another crack in the wall (use your dowsing to see where it is).
After blowing up the crack in the wall, you will see a new room appear, so go inside. Kill the crab with a bomb, and use his shell as a resting place between the start of the room and the middle.
Use your sword to hit the lightning crab baby into the small hole
In the middle of the room blow up the rocks to reveal a time-stone. Hit it, and you will be thrown back in the past, when there was no sand in this room.
Now continue on to the far side of the room, and you will see a small grate with a large button next to it. The goal here is to get one of the baby lightning crabs into the small opening, to power the door.
Use your sword to hit it inside the small grate, while standing on the button.
This will activate the door, which will allow you to thrust into the second switch and activate it.
Third Switch
Now go back outside, and make your way over the paths (use your map) to the final location, which is to the southeast of the red X, inside a building.
The door of the building is right next to the “Stone Cache” save point, which is actually the opposite side of the building from where your dowsing is pointing.
Make your way to the middle of this room, and then blow up the rocks to find a time stone. Don’t activate it yet though. First, kill a crab and then ride it to the opposite side on the sands.
Now, climb up the crates and run back across, and push down a smaller crate to use as a boost later.
Use a beetle to carry the lightning crab baby
Activate the time stone, and then use your beetle to carry a lightning crab baby over to the switch area.
Go back to where the switch is, and hit the crab in with your sword again. Activate the third switch inside the new area.
Now go back outside, and make your way over to the red X on your map.
Line up the symbols like on the map
To activate the switches, you need to align the three symbols with the ones on your maps.
The first symbol is the tear-drop shape which is directly to the left.
The second symbol is the fire, which is to the right and down, and the final symbol is the lightning which goes directly up.
After activating all three of these, the entrance to the Lanayru Mining Facility will open up, and you can proceed inside!
